A to Z Poetry: Lanturne Poems

A Lanturne poem is a five-line poem shaped like a Japanese lantern with a 1/2/3/4/1 syllabic pattern.

garden after

Old
sea goat
sails into
storm’s eye one last
time.

  2. Love your Lanturne poetry. There is a Dutch poetry from called elfje that has 1/2/3/4/1 words. The syllables adds a different challenge. Liked your Lanturne better than the haiku. Hope that was okay. Actually sort of mesmerized by the new form...new to me.

    1. I have not heard of the Dutch elfje, I'll have to look into that. I'm glad you like the lanturnes. Thanks!

  5. Cosmic clash ... awesome line. Good haiku, a gem, so to say. I like that other poetry form of the Japanese Lantern very well too. Have to try that once.
