Undefined

Reciprocate yourself
to examine fractions
of your soul.

Reciprocate everything
to return home,
becoming whole again.

Reciprocate nothing at all
and you've become undefinable.

Nightingale's Angelic Voice

A crescent moon rises o’er, a
Nightingale singing fabled lore-
Gallant knights and wicked queens.
Every note calling to the stars that gleam-
Like a gold fleece stolen;
Ino’s boiling cauldron; and
Centaurs galloping the Milky Way.

Vivid dreams wonder astray
Out my bedroom window.
Inviting the night’s hero; to
Come play among the stars,
Enchanted by angelic voiced bars.

Readers' Note (Epistle Poem)

A note to my readers lies herein
Travel, moving, a wedding, and unpacking--
Such a busy summer it has been
My energy and inspiration has been lacking

A vacation on the calendar is nearing
So for the remainder of the month I'll rest
The creative juices recharging
To return renewed in September with new zest

dVerse Poetics — Sent With A Stamp

--I'll return to writing/posting on September 6th. I need to recharge and take some vacation photos for inspiration.

The Way Begins

You've come to the House of God for your weekly show to the world, paying your dues as good Christians. But sitting next to you in the pew--I know the truth. The venom of the devil flows from your mouths. Gossiping and cursing your neighbors. When I have a say about the abominations you've become, about how you've twisted the purity of the word, the sanctity of His house-- I am the one out of line. I'm the one not following along.

And looking around, I see the world around me clearly for the first time. How naive  I've been! The world of man pretends to be saintly one day a week and those who question that false holiness are cursed worse than those who pretend.

No longer will I follow this false path; I will find my own way. Spirituality is not defined by sitting on a church pew on Sunday. There are many paths to God.

Wait for it-

Hop on up to the edge and commit;
It'd be a shame to quit.

Hey, step back a bit,
Wait for it-
Oh!

I promise hard ground you will not hit;
Just don't look down in the pit.

Hey, step back a bit,
Wait for it-
No!

It'll be over lickety split;
Adventure worth every bit.
Hey, step back a bit,

Wait for it-
Go!

Cup and Coaster's Ecstasy

Toad's Sunday Mini-challange was to write a love poem between to inanimate objects, so here is my tanka between a Cup and Coaster which I've also combined with the fitting Carpe Diem prompt: Ecstasy.

As days grow colder,
our meetings fewer--shorter;
On top at long last,
let me ride to ecstasy,
until my wetness soaks through

Ducklings Swim

ducklings swim near the shaded banks
while otters play devious pranks
on mellifluous lake fae
evading the water spray
toads cheer from sinking lilies
for more games and sillies
as the sun scorches shaded flanks
ducklings swim away giving thanks

Little Red Riding Hood

The Red Cape - Claude Monet

It's off to Grandmother's I go
My red hood keeps out winds that blow
The way through the forest I know
Skip to and fro, Skip to and fro

Is that a wolf I hear howling
Not a time for leisure strolling
With that low menacing growling
Must get rolling, Must get rolling

A haiku for haiku friday and haiku heights and a tan renga for Carpe Diem. If you read them together you can tell I've been watching too much of the Syfy show Defiance, but that's not what I intended when I wrote them. ;)

Haiku: Writing Courage (trio)

Only frowns dispayed
Punished for revealing
The insiders view

Excitement faded
Measured not by my talents
My words locked away

More than ten years pass
Ink and quills gathering dust
Until courage shines

Recycling this poem from April for dVerse's Entwin(n)ed Poetics because it was fun and I am lacking inspiration with the move this upcoming week. I don't know if I'll get to posting any more poetry for the rest of the month, but I'll be back in July charged with inspiration from the move and travels for poetry and haiku.

Anger Squalls

Masked by bought and borrowed veils

Naught but lies and tall tales;

Like a rare ride through the dales--

Jump track and the train derails;

Anchor set in anger squalls

Wait for the weak-willed wails

Berating until faith fails

Wake Up!

I watch my generation and the younger
Follow, follow, follow
Too busy texting
Too busy photo taking
Too busy chatting
Too busy posting
To realize the lies
To realize the misinformation
To think for themselves
Wake up from the Matrix!

Stop the oil production
Stop the natural gas production
Increase the clean air regulations-
that will cease coal production
How will you drive with no gas?
How will you charge you electric car with no coal?
How will they manufacture your iphone with no-
Petroleum based plastics?
What will millions of people do for work?
How will they feed their families?
Maybe plant their own gardens if they have a home left?
GMO's cheaper than organic?
Don't like the GMO corn?
Fine use it for fuel-
But where will we grow our food
-when all the land is used for fuel?

Some crazy who shouldn't have a gun-
shoots some people
So take away everyone's guns?
Criminals will still find a way-
Hello?! Criminal!!
Too busy Facebooking-
to know someone broke in
Take away everyone's guns-
Everyone's but the government
A government who will pass a bill without reading it!!!
These are your elected officials!!!
Did you even vote???
Too busy Instagraming?
To know the budget crisis?

Wake up!
Everyone has an agenda!
From the environmentalists to the oil producers
From the corn growers to the manufactures
From the lobbyist to the politicians
Statistics spun to favor the seller
Don't just jump on whatever is the hot ticker item for the moment
Without looking at both sides
Without looking at the bigger picture

Knowledge is power
Get your head out of the technology cloud
Do your research
Think big picture
Think long term
Think globally
Use your voice
Make a difference
This is the life we're making
This is the world we're making
For ourselves
For the next generation

---

Since June is  the month of Allen Ginsberg's birthday Kerry at Real Toads encouraged us to howl or rant about something we feel we needed to let off some steam about. Everyone seems to have a cause that they latch on to, but it amazes me how often people will just go along with whatever is flavor of the month issue without doing the research, without thinking about how it affects the system-locally, regionally, globally, and for future generations. I happen to be on the older side of Gen Y and it seem like a lot of us don't care or are too busy or think that our voice doesn't count-when we're the one who are going to have to live in the messed up world for the next 60-80 years. So its time for us to wake up and speak up!

Bath

Washing away the day
Debussy's waves crash across my lips
As I sink below the bubbles

Dreaming of beach play
La Mer's violins taste bitter sweet
As the water begins to cool

Putting Triton's trumpets away
The silence of bedtime cools my skin
As the tub drains to empty
---

Today's dVerse Meeting the Bar asks us to use Synesthesia or Sensory Confusion in a poem (i.e. taste the rainbow). I've included a poem about bathtime-a nice relaxing bubble bath, listening to Debussy's La Mer, and maybe having a glass of wine. Hope you enjoy.
