Wait for it-

Hop on up to the edge and commit;
It'd be a shame to quit.

Hey, step back a bit,
Wait for it-
Oh!

I promise hard ground you will not hit;
Just don't look down in the pit.

Hey, step back a bit,
Wait for it-
No!

It'll be over lickety split;
Adventure worth every bit.
Hey, step back a bit,

Wait for it-
Go!

Cup and Coaster's Ecstasy

Toad's Sunday Mini-challange was to write a love poem between to inanimate objects, so here is my tanka between a Cup and Coaster which I've also combined with the fitting Carpe Diem prompt: Ecstasy.

As days grow colder,
our meetings fewer--shorter;
On top at long last,
let me ride to ecstasy,
until my wetness soaks through

Ducklings Swim

ducklings swim near the shaded banks
while otters play devious pranks
on mellifluous lake fae
evading the water spray
toads cheer from sinking lilies
for more games and sillies
as the sun scorches shaded flanks
ducklings swim away giving thanks

Porch

On hot summer days
Humidity haze
Outside
Escaping sun's rays
Country music plays
Inside
Back porch cabernets
Steak, cole-slaw, and maize
Supplied

pungent thunder
sweeping me from the porch
sirens call foul

Little Red Riding Hood

The Red Cape - Claude Monet

It's off to Grandmother's I go
My red hood keeps out winds that blow
The way through the forest I know
Skip to and fro, Skip to and fro

Is that a wolf I hear howling
Not a time for leisure strolling
With that low menacing growling
Must get rolling, Must get rolling

Baseball Tableau

sit back and listen
as Mike calls the game
the boys of summer
are taking the field
for fun in the sun
beneath Arched gateway

Summer Mirage Tableau

Late day sun hitting
Back patio grill
Heat radiating
Beer tastes of weekend
Cruel heat mirage
As Wednesday withers

A haiku for haiku friday and haiku heights and a tan renga for Carpe Diem. If you read them together you can tell I've been watching too much of the Syfy show Defiance, but that's not what I intended when I wrote them. ;)

Weeping Web

Dew Nugget ~ by Scott Holmes

A lack-luster lover caught
Widow's woven web trap
As Dawn dreams of day break
Delicate dew drops weep

Shared with dVerse Form for All, which is accentual-alliteration today. I keep mine short, but I think I kept with the Bang, Bang, Bang, Crash feel. I even added some alliteration into the title :)

Haiku: Writing Courage (trio)

Only frowns dispayed
Punished for revealing
The insiders view

Excitement faded
Measured not by my talents
My words locked away

More than ten years pass
Ink and quills gathering dust
Until courage shines
